Children’s Writing Competition

We will be announcing a new and exciting theme for our next competition early 2021

Rules:

  1. The competition is open to all children from aged 7-11yrs
  2. All short stories must have a title and must not exceed 500 words
  3. Please tell us on the entry form if the child has any special educational needs that the judges can take into consideration
  4. The closing date is midnight on tbc
  5. There is no entry fee
  6. Only one entry per child
  7. Entries must be based on the two topics listed overleaf
  8. Typed entries ONLY will be accepted. This is to ensure judging remains fair
  9. Entries will only be accepted with an entry form (available from the Fairford Festival website)
  10. Entries will not be returned so please keep a copy
  11. The judges’ decision is final
  12. The winner will be notified via the contact details provided on the entry form and also announced at the festival on tbc
  13. The prize will be awarded in the main tent. This may be subject to change so please check the order of events throughout the weekend or ask a member of the Fairford Festival crew
  14. Authors of the winning entry grant Fairford Festival the right to publish or broadcast their work though copyright will remain with the author
  15. Entries must only be written in English
  16. Entries will only be accepted with parent or guardian signature
  17. Fairford Festival reserve the right to request proof of age
  18. Original accounts only will be accepted
  19. Any unsuitable or defamatory entries will be rejected
