Fairford Young Ambassadors Programme

Fairford Festival Young Ambassadors Programme

We are proud to announce the winners of our Young Ambassadors Programme 2018.

This year, two Young Ambassadors have been chosen by members of the Fairford Festival Committee. Our first award goes to our very own Eco-Warrior, Heather Kent. Having seen on TV how harmful plastic in our seas and oceans is to marine life, she was inspired to litter pick around Fairford every day for the 40 days of Lent. Heather who attends Fairford Primary School has braved all weathers to continue to litter pick in Fairford and has raised nearly £1,000 for her chosen causes. An outstanding contribution to our town for someone so young.

Our second Young Ambassador is Holly Foster from Marston Meysey who is a 6th form student at Farmor’s School. She is currently doing her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award including volunteering as a Scouting leader in Swindon; has done her National Citizenship (NCS) at Cirencester; she is a lead on the Charity Committee at school; is interested in ‘Science in Society’ and likes getting involved in the community.

The Young Ambassadors will receive their award, presented by Dr Victoria Edwards, Chief Executive of the Ernest Cook Trust, at the Fairford Festival on Saturday 2nd June.

The Fairford Festival would like to celebrate everything that is great about Fairford and that includes the wonderful young people who live here. We would like to discover and acknowledge young people in our town who really go the extra mile to make a difference.

So do you know of someone who deserves recognition for their actions? It could be someone who is always there to help out when needed, who helps to keep Fairford looking tidy. Someone who has overcome a hurdle in life, or has helped others to do so, or for any other reason that is worth recognising and honouring.

Nominees will be invited to meet with the Festival Committee and deliver a short presentation about their achievements. All nominees will be presented with a certificate. The winners will be invited to lead the Festival Parade on Saturday 8th June and be presented with a certificate and a medal.

Nominees must be aged 10 – 18 (in full-time education) and either live in Fairford or attend a Fairford school.
Nominations can be made in writing or by email and should be received by midnight Wednesday 1st May 2019.

To make a nomination, please email: margaret@warbrick.com and tell us the reason for your nomination, the name and age of the person you’ve nominated and also include your name and contact details so we can get in touch with you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope to hear from you soon.
